Practical Nursing Admission RequirementsOne class is accepted for each year. Nursing classes begin in January and progress into the fall and spring semesters of the following year.
Students will be considered for admissions into the PN Program only once the following are complete:
ICC application form with $20 application fee (if not previously paid) and the Practical Nursing Check List Information Sheet which is sent once you complete the application form. This form needs to completed and sent back to the Student Services Office before you are considered for the PN program.
Results of the College Placement Test: If the test results indicate a need for developmental courses, students will be required to complete some or all of these courses prior to admission to the Practical Nursing Program. The college placement test will be waived for transfer students who have an official college transcript with successfully completed college level coursework in reading, writing, and math.
Prerequisites for Practical Nursing Program: (Students may choose to complete these courses prior to the second semester of the Practical Nursing Program.) - Nursing Assistant (PRUN 1101) and Home Health Aide (PRNU 1103) or equivalent courses must be completed prior to the second semester of the Practical Nursing Program. These courses are offered at ICC each year. Current CPR certification (adult, child and infant) for healthcare providers completed and must be current throughout the second and third semester of the Practical Nursing Program.
Applications will be reviewed after June 1 and will be reviewed at the beginning of each month until the program is filled. Only complete files will be reviewed, you will not be notified if your file is incomplete. Students accepted will receive a letter from the Nursing Program.

Note: Accepted students are required to submit results of a physical and dental examination along with current Mantoux test or chest x-rays and criminal background study.
