The Itasca Viking Women's basketball team opened the home portion of its schedule with a thrilling 58-55 victory over Central Lakes College at Mullins Hall Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

Randa Glazier led all scorers with 28-points and hauled in 13 rebounds in the victory. Glazier also came up with a huge block in the closing seconds of the contest to prevent the go ahead score.

Lauren Guck hit a key baseline jumper for the Vikings to give them the lead for good with 30.2 seconds to go and Haley  McNeil added two key free-throws to make it a three-point Viking lead, 58-55.

However, Central Lakes still had an opportunity to tie the game up late in the second half. A three-point shot attempt by Lindsey Roos hit the front iron and ICC was able to grab the rebound to close out the contest and earn the three-point win.

Despite facing double and triple teams, Glazier led the Vikings in scoring working through traffic for 26 points. She was 11 for 14 from the field and hit six of her 10 free throw attempts in the victory.

McNeil added 14 points as well for the Vikings including the two late-free throws. McNeil scored 10 of her 14 points in the second half.

Roos had a strong second half for Central Lakes when she finished with a team high of 21-points. She hit on nine of her 12 field goal attempts. She was one of three Raiders in double figures in the game. Jaime Vansickle and Elizabeth Mattson finished the game with 10 points each.

It was a struggle for both teams offensively in the opening half. Central Lakes grabbed a 22-12 lead midway through the first half but the Vikings were able to claw their way back and pull within one point at the break, 26-25.

The Vikings trailed 53-50 late in the second half but four straight points by McNeil lifted ICC to the 54-53 lead. A quick bucket by Jalyn Lamb gave the Raiders its final lead of the game setting up the exciting final minute of play for the Vikings.

Glazier finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Vikings. Guck added eight points while Jessica Dvergsten finished the game with four points. Megan Johnson and Nicolle Gross finished with two points each. The Vikings held a distinct advantage on the boards as they out rebounded the Raiders, 45-29 in the game.

Lamb finished the game with six points while Emily Weber added five points for the Raiders. Lena Montano and Elizabeth Johnson finished with two points each.

The Vikings improve their season mark to 1-1 overall on the season while the Raiders fall to 0-2.
